Yuen Ying J Chan, O.D.

Dr. Jacqueline Y. Chan earned her doctor of optometry degree from University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas. With experience in hospital settings and private practices, Dr. Chan brings to the clinic her expertise of low vision, vision therapy, ocular disease and routine eye care. She teaches clinical practice and vision rehabilitation to ophthalmology residents, medical residents, and medical students. She is fluent in English and Chinese.

    $450,000 from 7/1/2015 to 6/30/2018 Title: Vascular Dysfunction and Hypoxia in Macular Degeneration To use novel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods we developed to detect physiological changes in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and compare with clinical eye exams. Our hypothesis is that reduced choroid blood flow and ocular oxygen and increased vascular leakage will detect AMD patients at a high-risk and help monitor effectiveness of treatment. Role: Co-PI
