Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Programs

 

Step 1: Meeting Admissions Requirements

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure they have met all admissions requirements prior to the application deadline. Select a program below to view admissions requirements:

Step 2: Submitting Application and Credentials

NursingCAS Application

NursingCAS is the only application required for admission to the UT Health San Antonio School of Nursing. Applicants must pay two application fees to submit their application:

  • School of Nursing application fee
  • NursingCAS application fee

The School of Nursing application fee is $45 and the link to pay the fee is accessed through the NursingCAS application under the “Program Materials” section. The NursingCAS application fee is set by NursingCAS and will be paid when you submit your application.

We highly encourage applicants to attend a BSN Application Workshop where one of our Admissions Officers will guide you through the NursingCAS application and coach you on the steps of the admissions process. NursingCAS also provides the following resources:

Transcripts

Official transcripts must be sent to NursingCAS from every U.S. college or university you have attended. NursingCAS must receive all official transcripts no later than 10:59 p.m. Central Standard Time on the day of the deadline. Learn more about sending official transcripts to NursingCAS.

TEAS Exam Score Report

UT Health San Antonio must receive your official TEAS exam score report from ATI Testing no later than 5 p.m. Central Standard Time on the day of the deadline. ATI Testing lists our name as "U of TX Health San Antonio." Scores sent through your NursingCAS application or other means will not be considered. Credit by Examination Score Report

If an applicant has earned academic credit through any of the following, UT Health San Antonio must receive the official score report no later than 5 p.m. Central Standard Time on the day of the deadline.

  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP) subejct exams
  • Advanced Placement (AP) exams
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) exams
  • DANTES exams

Letter of Good Standing

Applicants who were previously enrolled in another nursing school or program must provide a letter of good standing from their previous school indicating that the applicant is in good standing and eligible to return to that school or program.  The letter of good standing must be submitted directly to the Office of Admissions at the School of Nursing and received no later than 5 p.m. Central Standard Time on the day of the deadline.

Foreign Coursework & Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

Applicants who have attended a foreign college are required to submit an official course-by-course foreign evaluation from an approved Foreign Credentialing Service. This evaluation must be mailed directly from the credentialing agency to:

If an applicant has only attended colleges outside of the United States, they will be required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) to be considered for admission to the School of Nursing.

Scores must be less than two years old and received by the Office of Admissions by the application deadline. Please send official score reports to:

Step 3: Interview & Writing Sample

After the application deadline, competitive applicants will be invited to complete an online interview and writing sample. Interview invitations as well as all final admissions decisions will be sent via email from the Office of Admissions.

Graduate Programs

Step 1: Meeting Admissions Requirements

Applicants must ensure they meet the minimum admissions requirements for the specific graduate degree or certificate program you are applying to. All graduate programs in the School of Nursing require:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an AACN, ACEN, or NLNAC accredited institution
  • RN Licensure in the state of Texas or a compact state
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA in last 60 hours of coursework

In addition to these requirements, our Post-Graduate Certificate and Post-Master's DNP programs both require a Master of Science in Nursing. Our PhD in Nursing requires a GRE score taken within the past five years. Applicants to our Post-Graduate Certificate programs must complete Advanced Health Assessment, Advanced Pathology, and Advanced Pharmacology with a grade of "B" or higher in each course.

Step 2: Submitting the Application and Transcripts:

NursingCAS is the only application required for admission to the School of Nursing. Students must complete all parts of the NursingCAS application, including contact information for three recommenders. NursingCAS will provide your recommenders with the recommendation form, which they must submit by 10:59 PM on the day of the deadline.
