Federico Tozzi, M.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at UT Health San Antonio.
He received his medical doctorate from the University of Siena, School of Medicine in Italy, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He pursued his training as a general surgery resident at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas and Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio.
Early in his surgical training, he nurtured a deep interest in cancer care. He devoted himself to the study of cancer metabolism and angiogenesis completing a research fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston under the mentorship of Dr. Lee Ellis. Dr. Tozzi is the recipient of several honors and awards, including the ASCO travel award.
He joined the Division of Surgical Oncology with the goal of expanding the division’s clinical practice in gastrointestinal malignancy after completing a clinical fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at City of Hope National Cancer Center in Los Angeles, CA. His clinical interest includes gastric, pancreas, liver, colon, rectal, breast cancer and melanoma.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Tozzi is actively involved in surgical research, focusing on the application of minimally invasive surgery - robotics and laparoscopy - in the treatment of solid tumors.
