Dr. Jeffrey C. Mabry graduated from the Oklahoma College of Dentistry in August, 1980. After a four month rotation in General Anesthesia at the Oklahoma Teaching Hospitals, he served three tours with the Indian Health Service Branch of the U.S. Public Health Service, including Mescalero Indian Hospital, NM; Anadarko Indian Health Clinic, OK; and Claremore Indian Hospital, OK.
He was on Inactive Reserve status with the U.S. Public Health Service from July, 1981 to August, 1984. During that time, he was involved in a Dental General Practice Residency at Oklahoma Children’s Memorial Hospital (1981-82) and a Pediatric Dentistry Residency at the University of Minnesota (1982-84).
Dr. Mabry transferred to the U.S. Air Force from the U.S. Public Health Service in September, 1989. During his first USAF tour, Dr. Mabry served as Chairman, Pediatric Dentistry at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH (1989-94). He annually provided pediatric dental training and supervision for seven AEGD residents and six Veteran’s Administration Dental General Practice Residents. He simultaneously served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital (1989-94). During his second USAF tour, he served as OIC, Pediatric Dentistry at Lakenheath Air Force Base, United Kingdom (1994-99).
During his last USAF assignment (1999-06), Colonel Mabry’s served as Chairman, Pediatric Dentistry, 59th Dental Squadron, 59th Aeromedical Dental Group, Lackland Air Force Base, TX. He was responsible for planning and directing all clinical and administrative aspects of the Pediatric Dental Service. He provided patient care in the entire spectrum of the specialty. As an educator, he annually provided pediatric dental training and supervision for 20 two-year AEGD residents and six Post-graduate Short Course Students. He also served as the Chief Military Consultant to the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General for Pediatric Dentistry from 2000-06.
Colonel Mabry retired from the U.S. Air Force in October, 2006. He currently serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at UT Health San Antonio's Department of Pediatric Dentistry. He is the Director of the Dental Center for Children at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. He served on the Board of Directors and as President of the College of Diplomates for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (2009-10). He previously served as a Consultant, Examiner and Part Leader for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He now serves as Chairman of the Oral Clinical Examination Subcommittee (2013-present). He currently serves on the Board of Directors, and as Secretary, for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
